This week got away from me and I was only able to complete 1 challenge for NSD.
I played along with a challenge over at Scrapbook Nerd ~ Friends Group. It was a “patterned paper” challenge. You had to use as many different patterned papers as you could on one layout. I managed to fit 7 different papers on this page!
Even with using 7 patterned papers on my layout, I still managed to make the photos stand out by having the patterned papers only peek out slightly from behind the photos. Also, I used a paper with a very small pattern for my background paper.
I used papers and stickers from the “Let’s Go” collection by Kaisercraft and then added a few yellow enamel dots and a taxi button from an older Shimelle collection to finish it off.
Because I used multiple photos and so many patterned papers, I didn’t want to add too many more elements.
Well, it’s Mother’s Day today, so Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!
We’re asking you to create a project using items from your crafting supplies that spell the word “SPRING”.
I actually found this challenge, well, challenging! LOL!! There are a lot of items that start with the letters in “SPRING”, however, you have to use them all together in one project.
Here’s my take on the challenge:
I mainly used Vicki Boutin’s “Field Notes” collection I purchased from Scrapbook Nerd. The colours were SUPER springy and I was able to meet most of the challenge criteria with the collection alone! BONUS!
The word “hello” is from Jillibean Soup’s “Garden Harvest” collection and the enamel dots from Doodlebug Designs.
I really hope you play along! If you do, remember to link up your project on our blog. We LOVE to see your work!
So head on over to The Studio Challenges blog and find out what items I used and see what the rest of the DT team came up with.
And here’s my take on the sketch (also week 13 of “52 Favourites”):
I used the Vicki Boutin “Colour Kaleidoscope” collection I purchased from Scrapbook Nerd.
I also used a few enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye, some stickers from Simple Stories, a wooden button from an older Shimelle collection and the title “this” is from the Jillibean Soup “Garden Harvest” collection.
If you aren’t already a member of the Scrapbook Nerd Facebook Friends Group, head on over and join. If you participate in the sketch challenge and share it in the group, you have a chance to win a $15 gift certificateto the Scrapbook Nerd shop! Who doesn’t love FREE stuff! I sure do!! 😉
The colour palette is one of my favourites – blues and yellows!
Here’s my take on the challenge.
The majority of the papers and embellishments I used on this layout are from the Jillibean Soup“Farmhouse Stew” collection. They were PERFECT!! I also incorporated a few elements from Vicki Boutin’s “Colour Kaleidoscope” collection that I received recently from Scrapbook Nerd.
I created a “coffee cup stain” by inking the bottom of an old coffee cup.
A few blue and yellow enamel dots and journaling around the edges of the page finished off the layout.
So, head over to The Studio Challenges blog and check out the inspiring colour palette and the awesome layouts from the rest of the design team.
Then don’t forget to play along and link up your layout for a chance to be a guest designer with us!
The challenge is fussy cutting! This is actually something I love to do so I really enjoyed this challenge. On this layout I cut all the leaves out from a 12×12 sheet of paper.
My background paper is from Crate Paper’s “La La Love” collection and the rest of the paper is from the Carta Bella “Our Hose” collection (with the exception of the triangle paper which is from an older Fancy Pants collection).
When I do a lot of journaling on my pages, I like to write everything out in pencil first to make sure it all fits the way I want it to and then go over it in marker. Well, I used up the last of my lead in my mechanical pencil and I could not find another pencil in my house for the life of me! LOL! So, I said a prayer and started journaling in marker in hopes that it would all fit and it would be nice and straight. I’m SO GLAD it turned out! 😀
So head on over to The Studio Challenges blog and check out what the rest of the design team came up with. And if you join in the challenge, make sure you share your creation with us! We love to see you work!
